Destroying the Original Sin Concept

Destroying The Original Sin Concept

Before I get into this story I first want to cover the term Sin. The second and third chapters of Genesis are regarded as the Original Sin story. However one interesting thing to note is the word Sin does not appear until Genesis 4:7 and is not repeated again until Genesis 18:20. This would be like me writing a blog about You Tube but never mentioning You Tube in the blog. There would be no way for someone reading it to know that I am talking about You Tube since I do not mention it.
The first occurrence of the word Sin doesn't even relate to the story to which it is attached. Genesis 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. The word Sin is the Hebrew word 2403 and means an offence and its penalty, an offender.
Note: it doesn't give any indication as to applying to disobeying a deity. Only to what could be termed wrong behavior.

This is very important since this idea that Sin is an offence to a God is the core part of the Salvation message. Just to make sure I cover all aspects of the word Sin here are a list of the other words and when they first appear in the bible.
Sins - Leviticus 16:16
Sinned - Exodus 9:27
Sinner - Proverbs 11:31
Sinners - Genesis 13:13
Sinning - Genesis 20:6
Sinneth - Numbers15:28

Clearly the word Sin or any of its variations do not appear in the story, which is claimed to be where this entered the world. Which means this concept of Sin being directly connected to the actions of Adam & Eve is clearly a church message not one based on what is actually written in this story. This is just the beginning of the doctrine of Christian Churches not matching up with what is actually written.

It is also commonly taught that Adam & Eve ate an apple. This is exactly what Christians will say when talking about the original sin. They do not mention the names of the trees in this story because most of them do not know what the trees were called since that is not what is taught. The word Apple doesn't appear in the bible until Deuteronomy 32:10. He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. In this context (Christian's love to try and say Atheists take things out of context) the word Apple is not referring to fruit of a tree but a part of the human eye. The Apple of the eye is the pupil of the eye. This is just one of many places where physical attributes are given to this Lord God.

One further thing I want to point out before actually getting into the details of this story is the original creation of man & woman is not with Adam & Eve but occurs in Genesis 1:27. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Then in verse 29 we see the only commandment given by God to man & woman. Genesis 1:29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
Note: The God told them every herb bearing seed and every tree, which produces fruit, shall be food. Not every tree but one. A further note that can be made is the word Lord does not appear in Genesis 1:1 - 2:3. The word God is a general term, which can also mean the Gods while Lord is a specific name. That being Jehovah.

All of this is important because a strong case can be made that Adam & Eve did nothing wrong. Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for foodAll that would've mattered was that it was good for food and according to the God of Genesis 1:29 they could eat of it. That would also be the original God or creation God so any that would show up after and tell them any different wouldn't be the real one and thus would not need to be obeyed. In fact obeying the Lord God would've been disobeying the God of Genesis 1:29. Either way there is no way to obey both since their commands contradict each other. If Christians want to try and say this is the same God then the problem of the commands contradicting each other still remains., and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

In Genesis 2:4 the Lord God makes his first appearance and immediately begins trying to take credit for what the God had done. Some call this a retelling of Creation however one thing that can be noted is all of the claims the Lord God makes relate to this planet. Not to space at all or the universe as a whole. While this doesn't directly connect with the Original Sin story it is related to the beginnings of the Lord God.
Genesis 2:4 - 5 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens, And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
First thing I want to point out is the word Heavens because I know Christians will try and say, See, See it says Heavens so that means the universe. The word Heavens is the Hebrew word 8064 and means the sky.
Second thing I want to point out is two lies told by the Lord God in Genesis 2:5.
Genesis 2:5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, (LIE)

Genesis 1:11- 12 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

In order for grass to grow, herbs & trees to produce anything there must be water. Even if you want to do the God can defy nature type of warped thinking it is specifically mentioned at the Grass, Herb & Plants grew so no matter how you slice it the Lord God lied. Then we have the second lie.
Genesis 2:5 and there was not a man to till the ground. (LIE)

This lie is so obvious I shouldn't have to say this but I will if for nothing more then to rub it in the Christians nose. If the God of Genesis 1:27 created man & woman at the same time first of all it means males and females are Equal! So this male dominant bullshit that Judaism, Islam & Christianity are based on is pure bullshit! Secondly since male & female were around prior to the Lord God this means the Lord God is not the original one! Maybe just maybe this is Satan playing God if you want to use that metaphor. However I'll let that rabbit hole alone for now and more on to what is called the Original Sin story.

The story of the Original Sin begins with the instruction from the Lord God in Genesis 2:16 - 17. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Then we have the talking snake enter this story. Talking animals are something that occurs in the bible but we have never seen this actually occur in the real world. The most we have ever seen is Parrots mimicking what people say. However they do not ask questions only mimic what they have heard.
In Genesis 3 we hear the Serpent make 3 claims. Genesis 3:4 - 5 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Claim 1: Ye shall not surely die
Claim 2: In the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened
Claim 3: Your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
While the Lord God had made only one claim.
Claim 1: In the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.Clearly someone is lying here.
The first claim, Ye shall not die. Is proven true since both used the term In The Day and In The Day they did not die.Genesis 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened. Now to step back a second and look at this logically. Christians want to claim well Adam & Eve didn't live over 1,000 years so since a day with God is a 1,000 years to man that means they died in that day. They want to say in this one case the day magically went from Earth days of Evening and Morning being a day to now it is 1,000 years. What they quote to try and say this is 2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The fact that this wasn't written for thousands of years after the fact to Christian's doesn't matter.
The Christian wants to presume two things with this story.

1. Adam & Eve willfully disobeyed the Lord God. (Some want to claim Eve was deceived while Adam knew it was wrong but took on Sin to protect Eve. This is because of 1 Timothy 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.)

2. Prior to the fall Adam & Eve were Immortal.
Both of these ideas are completely false and I will explain why using Logic & Reason.
Since the two trees were called the Knowledge of Good & Evil & The Tree of Life there are a few logical deductions which can be made about Adam & Eve.

1. Neither had the Knowledge of Good & Evil since if they already had this there would be no point in eating of a tree to which you already possessed the reward of. Without the ability to know Good from Evil there is no way to make a choice about either. It would mean Adam & Eve were just like the animals in nature.
No animal in nature makes a conscious choice about anything. For them everything is based on stimulus response. Add to this the concept of death is not something we are born with. A child doesn’t understand what death is until they see something dead. Typically this is a pet or an animal of some sort. Even then the first thought is that the pet or animal is sleeping. It is only after they see the dead animal and it is explained to them that the understanding of what death is can really begin to sink in. However explaining this is giving the child the knowledge of Good & Evil. Good & Evil are dualistic terms just like Life & Death, Right & Wrong, Up & Down and Black & White. Going back to what animals understand the concept of duality is beyond the comprehension of an animal.
The knowledge of Good & Evil is what gives us self-awareness, which leads directly into freewill. Since animals do not make a choice but respond to stimulus what they do can’t be called freewill since there is no conscious intent apart from the stimulus.

2. If Adam & Eve were immortal prior to eating of the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil this means it would’ve been pointless for them to eat of the Tree of Life since they would’ve already possessed that trait. Notice in the story nothing was taken away from them it was only one of the two things were given to them.
Which means they could’ve been immortal but without the knowledge of Good & Evil, which means they would’ve been like the animals in nature with the immortality. They wouldn’t have had freewill but only been responding to stimulus.

The other option was to have self-awareness and the ability to make freewill choices but to be mortal like everything else in nature. Considering the choices that existed what they did was not a fall but an evolution to a higher way of thought.

Then there is this idea that the knowledge of Good & Evil brought about knowing they were naked and that being naked or the awareness of this is some kind of sin. This would only be a problem if this Lord God wanted to keep Adam & Eve no different then animals in nature.

Animals in nature don’t have the perception that they are naked or that there is anything wrong with it. They live their entire lives completely naked and it is perfectly ok. Our being self-aware means we are conscious of our selves and others. Being naked is not a problem for a newborn child. The child could care less if they are running around naked. It is only after the parent conditions the child to you must wear clothing that this idea of being naked becomes part of the child’s awareness. This is why primitive tribes don’t have the issues of being naked that us in the developed world have.

One final note that can be made is there are no commandments given at this point so the idea that they were in violation of some law is impossible since no laws existed. It wasn’t until Moses that this God presented laws of any sort. Yet the lack of laws didn’t stop this Lord God from passing judgment twice and committing genocide twice. That however is something for a latter time.
Genesis 3: And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil:
The first thing to note right off the bat the only one there is Adam. It isn't until Genesis 2:21 - 22 that this Lord God creates the woman. After all she doesn't deserve a name until after the shit hits the fan. The male got his name right away but not the woman.
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
In this I am going straight at the heart of Christianity and completely pulling the rug out from under the religion. The entire basis of Christianity rests upon this story of the Original Sin. Without an original sin everything that is to follow makes utterly no sense and the human sacrifice of Jesus, also known, as the Salvation message is utterly pointless. It is for this reason that Christians will fight tooth and nail over this story of the Original Sin.
